How to protect your dining room from dogs

Dogs are great pets, but keeping your house clean when you have a pet dog can be challenging.

One of the biggest issues with a dog is that their fur sheds on furniture, floors, and carpets.

The best way to protect your furniture is to provide attractive alternatives for your pet so that he stays off of your chairs and sofas. Provide your dog with a comfy bet or blanket where he can get cozy. Some gentle training may be required to encourage your dog to use his bed on a regular basis.

Groom your dog regularly to reduce the volume of fur the he sheds. Brushing once a day for 5-10 minutes can be an enjoyable time for you and your pet. Use a wire brush that is designed to grab the fur so that you don’t create a larger mess, or brush your dog outside when the weather permits.

Protect your upholstery.

SmartSeat Chair Protectors are an effective and easy way to protect your dining room and kitchen chairs. Our seat covers discreetly protect your chairs from fur, are easy to put on and take off for easy washing, and are durable enough to last for years. For larger furniture, such as couches, blankets, sheets, and towels can be used and then removed for easy cleaning.

Keep your floors and carpets clean.

Keep your carpets and floors clean by vacuuming regularly. Use a vacuum with a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter for the best results. Floors can be swept clean with a damp mop that will help to capture the fur instead of pushing it around. And invest in a hand-held vacuum that you can use to quickly and easily clean up dust and fur balls that cluster in corners, under furniture, and around your pet’s favorite spots in the home.

To keep your floors free from paw prints, consider rinsing your pet’s paws after they return from outside. You can use a damp towel to wipe their paws clean or even dip their paws into a shallow bowl of water to remove heavy soiling. You also can find especially absorbent mats on the market that are designed to absorb and contain dirt, mud and water.

Keep your clothes fur-free.

Tape rolls are an effective way to keep your clothes free of excess fur. Keep these rolls in several places around your home — such as on dressers, in closets, by the front and back doors, and in the laundry room — for easy access. Because they are relatively inexpensive, buy them in bulk so that you’re never caught short.

Removal urine stains promptly.

Consistent and early house training is the best way to keep your dog from having accidents in the house. But if you find that your dog has an occasional accident, be sure to clean it up promptly. Use a pet odor neutralizing product or a liquid enzymatic cleaner , such as Nature’s Miracle. These products will remove your dog’s scent so that they are less likely to purposefully “mark” on the spot again.
